It has been a whirlwind of birthdays at our house this month. We got creative to keep my middle daughter’s 15th birthday party fun and easy. She is not a little girl anymore and life has been busy. It was so wonderful to celebrate her. It was even more special when she requested a unicorn birthday party theme!?
We came up with a Unicorn theme sleepover under the stars after she suggested going to the local drive-in movie theater as we did last year. I really wanted to have her party at home this year. Last year we lived at my in-laws and we respectfully didn’t want to have any parties while we lived there. Check out our story here.
We have always loved the cozy homemade outdoor theater.
This pic by fabulous Urbanic paper inspired us to create an outdoor movie theater on our back deck. My girlie invited me to her unicorn Pinterest party board to get inspired for her pretty party. We pulled out a mattress, blankets and decorated everything pretty in pink. She was so excited and said it was the party was the best present ever!
For the mama Pinterest haters out there it… making a fun theme party doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive
Here is how we decorated my daughter’s unicorn party
Inspired by these pretty unicorn looking desserts from Kara’s party ideas we made these;
Unicorn icecream desserts
- Soften Neapolitan ice cream and place into small canning jars or any cute little glass cups.
- Top with whipping cream
- Sprinkle endlessly with all kinds of colored marshmallows and sprinkles!
- Throw in the freezer until ready to serve
We did a pretty in pink tablecloth from the dollar store, but I love this idea from We love parties
And my girlie spent some creative time making these inspired by Brit & Co
We added some yummy Pink lemonade
We added a colorful Fruit platter inspired from ADHD Natural Mamma
Here is a list of what we used for the party. Use this list to create your own sleepover unicorn birthday party:)
- Mini colored marshmallows for unicorn poop
- Unicorn stuffies to adopt your own unicorn (this makes a great thank you gift to take home)
- Pink or colored tablecloths from the dollar store
- Tissue paper to make the banner
- Colored napkins and plates
- Assorted colored fruit chopped
- Frozen pink lemonade
- Mattresses and bedding
- A TV and DVD player
Assemble and done!
The party
Hehe I even threw in some fun coloring pages just to bring out the little princess in them (and embarrass them just a little haha) ?
Simple right??? And sushi for supper is a win with the big girls!
Two of her fav friends came over for the night. They got cozy on their mattress while watching movies and YouTube videos on their phones;). She was so excited and said it was the best present ever! She is my grumpy, colorful but easy to please child. When she graduates I am sure she will wear a pretty in pink princess dress.??
They entertain themselves at this age. I am merely a bystander?
