Are you going through tough times right now? Does it feel like it’s harder than you know how to deal with? You may be going through the refining fire to set you free from what you have been holding onto…
We are currently battling severe forest fires here in our province. So much so, that our province has declared a state of emergency. I can only imagine what these people are going through right now having to flee their homes in a moments notice, leaving behind everything they own. In some cases even their livelihood!
Have you ever dealt with what has felt like is a hopeless situation? One that brings you to your knees out of desperation? You are so exasperated that you just cannot go on your own strength anymore?
I have. I have been so broken in different moments with family members, and a car accident that left me feeling broken physically and emotionally that nothing I tried would work anymore.
Nothing I did could make it better. I felt helpless as I couldn’t control these situations I was going through.
And out of complete brokenness, I surrendered. My will, my hope, and my heart, over to the one that can only redeem; Jesus my Saviour.
Through that moment of surrender, Jesus met me. He redeemed my family and restored my brokenness and took hopeless situations and made them better than I ever could have dreamed or imagined. You see, it was all about obedience. It was about surrendering my will and my fleshly desires to become all that I was created to be in Him. I needed to come to the end of myself and stop leaning on my own measly strength. To lay down my will before Him and allow Him to transform my inner heart so that He could use me to my full potential to reach those around me. I see so much brokenness around me that my heart cries out for those who don’t know His freedom. The kind of freedom that only our heavenly Father can bring.
I pray these fires running through our province will bring many to a place of surrender before their mighty King as they deal with severe devastation loosing everything. Surrender to the only one that can redeem their lives, bring healing, and pull them out of the pit of sin.
We were never promised to never go through the storms of life in this broken, upside down world we live in. We were, however, promised healing and restoration for our souls in every circumstance if we trust our Lord and Savior in the midst of it.
Today is the day that the Lord has made, we will choose to rejoice and be glad in Him. No matter what the circumstances, no matter what the storm, we will choose this day to rejoice and be glad in Him.
He is using the storms around us to bring us to Him. To bring us closer to know His faithful deep loving heart for us. His desire is for us to know Him deeper. To know His will for our lives and to reach out in a greater purpose to bring victory and healing to our hearts and to those around us. It is about obedience.
To refine gold it must go through a process. One of those processes is through the fire. The fire heats up as high as 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. Gold gets heated up in the fire until smooth. Once cooled it becomes free of any impurities.
It is through the refining fire that we become set free. It is through the fire those chains that have held us so tightly finally fall off of us. We find ourselves broken free from the things that have bound us so tightly. When we choose to worship our Heavenly Father through the storm, we become set free and redeemed from the pit and the lies of the world.
The pit that clammers for us to give up and keep us oppressed. The pit that tells us that we are not worthy. The pit that keeps us bound by fear and causes us to drown in hopelessness. The pit that keeps us from rising to our full potential in Christ.
And I will put this third into the fire, and refine them as one refines silver, and test them as gold is tested. They will call upon my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are my people’; and they will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’” -Zechariah 13:9
We become purified in the refining fire. Through the only one who can bring freedom when we choose to trust Him in the midst of the storm or the burning fire. We come out more purified like pure gold reflecting Christ beautiful glory. Free from the anxiety and fear that bind us so tightly.
We come out purified if we choose to keep our eyes fixed on our savior through the fireClick To Tweet
What is the storm of life or fire raging around you? Do you know that your heavenly father wants to release the chains that keep you from moving forward, to bring freedom to your soul so you can be set free? Free to reach out to those around you? Free to be who He has created you to be while living out your full potential.
What are you going to choose this day in the storm you are going through? To give up and feel sorry for yourself? Or are you going to rise up to your full potential in Christ? Are you willing to surrender your will, and your broken life to the only one that can redeem and save you from the world that holds us so tightly?
He wants to break you free of what breaks Him. To lay down your life before Him so He can fully redeem your heart and your situation you are going through right now.
Choose this day whom you will serve…
Lord we pray that your spirit will bring healing rain to our storms, to the refining fire we are experiencing right now. That we will find victory and healing in you. That you will help us to lay down our sinful distracted ways and surrender our will to yours so we may become all you have called us to be, in Jesus name amen!
Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and lusts. If we live by the Spirit, let’s also walk by the Spirit.
But may the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a little while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.
