We sold our home but weren’t sure where we should move to. We decided on building a new home for our family. We are finally in our new home! Check out our first episode here!
Settling into our new home
We have been living in our new home for a few months now and we are loving it! What a blessing to have our own home again. It’s great to have space to enjoy our fav people too! We have been enjoying the beautiful view on our deck this summer. It’s hard to look over this beauty and not worship our mighty Father. He is so mighty and glorious, even the mountains even obey Him!
Life has been busy so I haven’t gotten a chance to take reveal photos just yet. But here’s a sneak peek just for you:)
If you have ever moved, you know how long it can take to set up your new home. Being the designer makes it especially hard because I want it perfect:). I feel like it usually takes me at least six months to really feel settled in. Or at least that’s how long it takes to get my home organized and cozy. How long does it take you to settle in when you move? Maybe we just need to experience all the seasons to feel like we are home… especially the Christmas season!;)
The last few months I have spent decorating our home. I started by laying out all my decor. I played around with the decor I already owned, used the pieces that worked in the space, then shopped around for a few new pieces to pull it all together. Stay tuned for the reveal pics are coming soon!
When we first moved in, I unpacked box after box. But didn’t even touch my home decor items. It was too overwhelming to think about where to put all that stuff until we had all the furniture pieces in place. It wasn’t until my new sofas had arrived that I started to unpack my pile of decor boxes…
Even now I am still switching things around until I feel like it’s come together. Like my mantle for example (yup, I rhymed… teehee). It took a few tries to get it where I was happy. I bought a few new and old decor pieces, but now I love it! I am sure I will continue to change a few things in our home as we go. As trends change, I am always playing with my decor. Do you like to change up your decor? Or do you keep the same decor for many years?
Getting Organized
When we first moved in, I put things away into their designated spaces just to get my boxes unpacked. But after living here for a few months, I have been reorganizing my closets again. They needed some rearranging to stay organized.
Do you find your closets regularly become one big mess that feels impossible to find anything? Check out this great post on how to organize your closets so they stay clean and mess free!
This week I finally made it to the basement to reorganize the closets I had thrown everything into when we first moved in. I actually want to spend time down there now! Even though I could hide the mess just by shutting the doors… I still knew the mess was there…;). I feel such a relief now just by cleaning out my closets.

Design tip
When decorating a new space; rather than feeling overwhelmed to find all the perfect pieces right away. Leave a few undecorated places around the house that can be filled with a great piece or two you may find shopping. It’s always exciting to have a space for that one perfect piece you may come across one day.
